I can confidently say that having a morning routine is one of the best decisions one can make. It literally sets the tone for the day.
If you start your morning on a good note, there is a higher chance that you’ll end up having more productive day.
Without a good morning routine, the rest of the day might be rushed or messy because you have no routine to guide you.
Since I realized the routine that best works for me, I’ve decided to stick to it. Having the right energy from my morning routine for a productive day gives me the strength that I need for the day.
As a mom of three, l work part-time and blog. I realize that having a routine is one of the things that keep me sane.
I understand that we are different and my routine may not work for you but I’m sure you can gain insight on how to develop your own morning routine from mine.
Below is my morning routine
1. Wake Up Early
My morning routine starts at 5:00 am. I’d say waking up this early is one important way to start the day on a productive note.
Early rising will give you enough time to do whatever you need to do to get the day started, especially having some ME time. If you are a mom, you’ll understand the benefit of waking before your kids.
You need sometime to recharge and reconnect with yourself.
You need to have a regular waking time to be successful at creating a perfect morning routine for a productive day.
2. Prayer
I start my day with prayer.
I’m always grateful to God for the grace to see another beautiful morning and ask for the strength for the day. I ask for his maximum protection over me and my family.
Observing my prayers and spending the first minutes of the day with a quiet time has been helpful even with my spiritual growth.
As a Christian, l acknowledge the help of God in helping me to be productive. God’s plan for us each day is perfect. So I don’t underestimate the power of prayers to get started.
3. Lemon Water
I’m usually out of the bed by 5:25 a.m, after which l go to the kitchen to make my morning lemon water. A cup of warm lemon water with a tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar is a great way to start the day, It’s absolutely refreshing.
According to research, drinking a cup of warm lemon water is healthy with lots of amazing benefits. It helps with weight loss, aids digestion, helps with hydration, improves our skin quality and so on.
Most times, I infuse additional flavour for a health boost, such as a ginger slice, mint leaves, or a teaspoon of honey.
4. Exercise
I exercise between 5:30- 6:00 a.m.
Introducing morning exercise to my routine is a decision I’m glad I made. The importance of exercise to achieving overall productivity cannot be over emphasised.
One thing I’ve learned is that; postponing my exercise to later in the evening makes the day less productive for me.
The feeling is not always the same for me and the energy level for the day drops drastically.
Morning exercise set the tone for the rest of my day. It has also been linked to greater productivity throughout the day and it helps to lower blood pressure.
If evening exercise works best for you, stick to it.
5. Shower
Between 6:00-7:00 am has been dedicated for shower and getting ready for the day.
I usually prepare our clothes, shoes, and other accessories for the day a night before. So this makes it super easy for me and my kids in the morning.
An early morning shower will leave your body fresh, and you’ll be able to start each morning fresh and brand new.
I take my shower first right after my exercise, brush my teeth, get dressed. I make sure I do all these before getting my kids up from the bed to take their own shower too.
By 7:00 am we are all set for Breakfast.
6. Breakfast
At 7.00 am with the help of my kids, we get the table ready for breakfast.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, she should not be skipped.
It helps with the energy that is needed for better focus and productivity in school and work every day.
I usually prepare something light for breakfast like Bread, Sandwich, Coffe, Tea, etc. I’ve got lots of breakfast and lunch ideas on Pinterest.
This has been helping greatly with super quick healthy foods to keep our day bright and beautiful and above all with the utmost level of productivity.
I also make sure my kids’ Lunch Boxes are ready the night before. I’ll pack them and place them in the refrigerator.
I go extra miles to make my family happy during dinner. No matter how tiring the day might have been. I always look forward to us enjoying a warm homemade family dinner together.
By 7: 30 a.m, we are out of the house for school(s), and work, feeling refreshed, energetic, and ready to conquer the day.
This morning routine for a productive day has been my saving grace as a working mom of three, with a blog and a YouTube channel to create content for.
We do things slightly differently at the weekends. Weekends are for family bonding and also for religious activities.
